Holiday Season at RHAP
RHAP’s Holiday Season began in mid October! RHAP Staff and Volunteers have been working hard to find sponsors and donors, and provide gifts for over 200 tenants and community members. A special thank you to our 2017 donors so far: IFDS, Forest Hill Montessori, Corby Spirits, CIBC, Scholastic, Mastermind Toys, Winners, Canadian Tire – Leslie and Lakeshore, and The Patterson Family. Our Annual Holiday Party will take place on December 14th 2017, at the Royal Canadian Legion # 11 (9 Dawes Rd) from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. We are still looking for more family sponsors, donations, and volunteers. We need volunteers to help wrap gifts in the coming weeks and for the day of the Holiday Party (set up, take down, food prep, craft table, entertainment, etc.) - for information on volunteering, please contact us!

Welcome to our new website! We have spent the past year working on launching a new logo and website that represents our community. On this site you will be able to find out information on our programs and services, as well as updates on any upcoming fundraisers or programs. Halloween Party
On Friday October 27th Riverdale Housing Animation Programs (RHAP) hosted our annual Halloween party for our residents and community members. Our office was decked out in scary decorations and everyone's costumes were amazing! We enjoyed spooky snacks, dinner, and watched a scary movie! We also played fun Halloween games for adults and kids to to win some goodies! The turn out was amazing - hope to see you all again next year!
Senior's Tea
Our Senior's Tea was a great success! We enjoyed tea tastings, live music, storytelling, bingo, tasty treats, and more alongside our community members! Thank you to everyone who attended, and those who volunteered their time to help out - we couldn't have done it without you! Stay tuned for more Senior's events in the future.
HOME - A Group Exhibition in support of RHAP
What does home mean to you?
For some of us the concept is a foregone conclusion - no matter the scale, we have a place to hang our hats and family and friends who fill that space with us. Shelter, safety, security, belonging, acceptance; these are just a few interpretations of the word home. With this basic foundation, we can become wrapped up in other elements of our day-to-day lives. Perhaps this means focusing on the stresses of work, building relationships, or creating new works of art. But over 235,000 Canadians do not have the luxury of these struggles – there is no foundation for them to build upon.
In Toronto alone there are over 5,000 of those 235,000 Canadians who cannot make that claim and who do not have a home of any description. For a healthy, growing city that consistently ranks top percentile for quality of life this is inexcusable. The average life expectancy for a homeless Canadian is 43-47 while homed Canadians live on average to over the age of 81 – so for many, home is a matter of life and death.
With this show, we want to put the focus on home to support not only those without homes, but also those are in the process of making homes. Riverdale Housing Action Group and Animation Programs provide over 100 women and children safe, secure housing – a home and community. A percentage from all works sold will go to RHAG to help them continue to offer these services – but it’s our hope that these works will also stimulate discussion and provoke thought on the issue of homelessness in all its forms.
Please join us the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 4th at the Steamwhistle Roundhouse to see artwork from some of Toronto's rising stars and support a cause that's close to home!
